Introducing English Assembly
www.englishassembly.com is the newest addition to the Seattle Learning Academy family!
Hi again, and welcome back to Seattle Learning Academy's American English pronunciation podcast. My name is Mandy, and this is our 121st episode.
Today's episode is more of an announcement than a lesson.
If you're a regular user of the forums on Pronuncian, then you already know that we've been making some changes. These forums have served as a valuable resource for you to ask or discuss questions you may have about American English Pronunciation. Today I'm going to tell you about the changes we're making and how they can help you as you study or teach any aspect of English.
Our forums are now hosted at a new site called EnglishAssembly.com. In the new forums, we have places to talk not just about pronunciation, but about any aspect of American English... grammar, vocabulary, culture, you name it! The best way to get answers is to ask questions, and the forums are the place to do it! Free registration is required to post in the forums, although anyone can read most of them without registering.
The new forums are just a beginning. English Assembly is just getting started. The site will be a place where we try to bring together students from around the world with teachers who can help them learn online. Right now, it can be hard for students to find good teachers to work with online, and difficult for teachers to find students. I want to create a place where they can come together, and that place will be English Assembly.
For students, English Assembly will offer many of the same great learning materials that we offer on Pronuncian, and more as we begin to introduce grammar and vocabulary study materials as well as those aimed at improved pronunciation. It will also encourage more interaction with other students and, of course, with teachers.
For teachers, it will not only help you to find students, but it will also help with many of the challenges of teaching online. We will offer great materials to assign to students, great student management tools to track their progress and stay in touch, and a community of fellow teachers to bounce ideas off of and get feedback from. We'll also allow you to contribute your own materials, showcasing you and your business to potential students.
Pronuncian.com is not going anywhere, and this podcast will keep going as strong as ever. Pronuncian will remain a much-needed focus for helping learners with the difficult aspects of American English Pronunciation. New lessons and study materials are being added all the time! But, as you know, there is more to learning English than pronunciation and I want to make it easier for teachers and students to find each other and take advantage of the opportunities presented by the Internet to provide instruction more effectively and with less expense than ever.
We're just getting started with all of this and your feedback and participation are important. Come help us shape the future in the new forums! More tools are coming soon.
Speaking of tools to help you study English, I know that many of you listen to this podcast on MP3 players. Did you know that you can also practice listening to English using audio books? Just go to pronuncian.com/audible for a free book of your choice!
That's all for today everyone. This has been a Seattle Learning Academy digital publication. SLA is where the world comes to learn.
Thanks for listening.
